Gospel Explosion Gets Thumbs Up
25 Mar 2010 04:02 pm
The Gospel Explosion received rave reviews from attendees and performers. The host and hostess for the event were PLCC members, William Bowen Sr., who also serve as co-Chair of the PLCC Board and new member, Evangelist, Artherrine Grimes Hoskins. They did an excellent job keeping the program moving along between performances, with lively and interesting dialogue about the Promise Land, the PLCC Vision for the community and encouraging support for our mission and goal. The special concert guest was Jesse Boyce and Vision of Nashville, who did not disappoint as they rendered soul stirring and spirit filled gospel arrangements. Other performers included: God Squad a group of youth and some adults from McGavock of Chapel AME Church of Charlotte; Rev. Mallory and NuSong of Clarksville, The Chimes of Canaan of Clarksville; Christian Folk songswriter and vocalist, Lydia Walker of Cunningham; Soloist, Rebecca Talley Armstrong, who currently reigns as the U.S. Karaoke Champion; and a 12 year old, Miles Slay of John United Methodist Church of Nashville. All the performers were simply superb! Likewise, the members of the PLCC did a super job at carrying out their responsibilities to make the event go smoothly.
This event was the PLCC first major fund-raiser for 2010. The proceeds from it have been very favorable. As this news blog is being written donations are still being received. If you are reading this and did not get a chance to make a donation it is not to late. Go to contact on the website and send us a message for mailing instructions.
Gospel Concert To Benefit PL School Building Restoration
11 Mar 2010 01:25 am
The PLCC will host a gospel concert entitled "A Gospel Explosion" at the Dickson Middle School on Saturday, March 20, 2010 starting at 6:00 p.m. The proceeds will benefit our restoration of the school building as we near completion of final phase. Final does not mean that the project is completed. Once the restoration is finished, we will then move into the phase of acquiring the mid-twentieth century period school furnishings necessary for creating the museum. We will also move toward the ground breaking for the expansion building which will adjoin the historic building and will serve as a multifunction community room. Therefore our efforts to raise funds to make our vision a reality continues.
The Gospel Explosion will be headlined by Rev. Jesse Boyce and the Vision Band of Nashville http://jesseboyce.org/band.html. The Dove and Grammy nominated Boyce became acquainted with the members of Vision while serving as Assistant Music Director at Gordon Memorial UMC. They are currently working on their first CD project together, entitled "The Messenger". Vision is comprised of a group of men and women with outstanding voices and equally impressive musical backgrounds. PLCC member, Regina (Edmondson) Webb is a member of Vision and is responsible for their participation in this benefit. Others who will be appearing are gospel recording artist, Rebecca (Talley) Armstrong who is originally from Charlotte, now residing in Knoxville; St Paul AME Church Choir of Clarksville; and McGavock Chapel AME Church Choir and Chestnut Grove Men's Choir both of Charlotte. There are others who will be participating but have not confirmed at the time of this news blog.
The concert is opened to the public. There is no admission charge however, tax deductible donations will be greatly appreciated.
